Week 1 & 2

WELCOME TO AROHA 1'S BLOG

Nau Mai Haere Mai, Greetings, Talofa Lava, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Malo e
lelei, Asalam alaykum, Xin Chao, Namaste, Bula Vanaka and Hello Parents/Whanau of Aroha 1!

My name is Zia Shafeena Nisha and I will be your child’s teacher this year. A little bit about me, I am the oldest
daughter in a family of five with two younger sisters, and I enjoy socializing, traveling, reading and making
videos in my downtime. I joined the Rowandale teaching team last year in Term 1 and I am excited to be
working with you and your child this year.

Homework
Homework is a great way to solidify the learning that has happened at school, stay calm and enjoy the time you spend with your child while doing homework!

My expectation for homework in Aroha 1 is that you and your child will work together every night to work on
High Frequency Ring Words- read it, spell it and say it a sentence. Children will also have a book to read where
they can read to themselves, read to you and listen to you read it. There will also be some Maths Basic Facts
revision.

Uniform
School uniform is to be worn at school, at all times. If your child has lost their uniform, you may check the lost
property at the school office. Your child’s hat will be kept in the classroom and if your child loses their hat you may
need to purchase another one. Please make sure you name your child’s uniform.

Lunches
We are proud to be a healthy eating school so thank you for ensuring your child has a healthy morning tea and
lunch on a daily basis.

Class Blogs
Every class has a blog page. It is important for parents/whanau and friends to check out the blogs as it
showcases what the children have been doing at school. The school blogs are up on the Rowandale School
site http://www.rowandale.school.nz/.When you have the time, please check Aroha 1’s class blog regularly as
I will be posting your child’s work on a weekly basis. There is a comment section at the bottom of the blog and
you’re welcome to comment on your child’s work. If you do not want your child’s photo on the blog please let me
know as soon as possible.

As we work together to help your child learn, it will create an environment where we will all be able to achieve
and succeed. If you need to get in contact with me regarding your child’s learning, please feel free to write in
the reading log book or contact me on 0220656927, I will get in contact with you at my earliest convenient time.

 End Results

We had our buddy class (Room 24) coming in our room to help us with our learning.

We also went to see pigs and chickens

Samuel, Folole, Skylah and Katelyn touching the pigs
Aroha 1 and Whakapono 24 looking for chickens and eggs

This was great as we build whanaungatanga (relationship) and Ahurutanga (safe space) among the Tuakana teina (older and younger tamariki) of Rowandale School. It was also great to see Rm24 students taking the initiative to come at morning tea to check on their buddy.
